Crowns and bridges in Azusa

A crown covers a tooth that is too damaged or worn to be rebuilt with a filling. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by anchoring to the teeth on either side of the gap.

What it is for

A tooth that has cracked, broken, or been weakened by a large old filling. A tooth that has had root canal treatment. A gap where a tooth has come out and the teeth either side have started to drift.

What a visit involves

It starts with an examination. Dr. Khosravibabadi will look at the tooth and the teeth around it, explain what he can see, and set out the options, which may not be a crown.

What we will not tell you

We will not quote you before we have looked, and we will not tell you a crown is the only answer when a filling would do. Sometimes it is the only answer. We will say which.

Questions and answers

Do I need a crown or a filling?

It depends how much healthy tooth is left. A filling rebuilds part of a tooth; a crown covers the whole of it. When there is not enough tooth left to hold a filling, a crown is what keeps it in one piece.

What happens if I leave a gap where a tooth used to be?

Teeth move. The ones either side of a gap tend to tilt into it, and the one above or below can drift down. That is why a gap is worth a conversation even when it does not hurt.

What do crowns and bridges cost at Hiraya?

We do not publish a price list. Every case is different, so we will look at your teeth, explain your options, and tell you what the treatment costs before anything begins.
